Hemda's chemistry students, at the 11th grade we involved in a projects to analyze and discover one of Israel's symbols: citrus fruits.
Using traditional "wet" chemistry and more sophisticated computerized sensors of pH and conductivity the students conducted several experiments to determine the constituents of the fruits. The experiments are part of our research approach to chemistry, in which the students learn how to plan an experiment, conduct their own planned experiments and report their results and conclusion.
The fruit-chemistry lesson was part of the study of the quantitative aspects of chemistry and the chemistry of acids and bases. The experiment is also demonstrate the chemistry is EVERYWHERE.
